Root Canal Treatment
A root canal removes infection from inside the tooth, easing pain and preserving your natural tooth structure so you can keep a strong, comfortable, long-lasting smile.
A root canal treatment saves your natural tooth when the inner nerve becomes infected or inflamed. Instead of removing the tooth, we gently clean and seal the inside, relieving pain and protecting the tooth for the long term.
Why you might need a root canal
Infection inside a tooth can be caused by deep decay, cracks, old fillings, or previous trauma. If left untreated, the infection can spread and become increasingly painful. A root canal removes the infection and prevents the problem from worsening.
What to expect during treatment
We begin by thoroughly assessing the tooth and taking digital X-rays to understand the extent of the infection. The tooth is then gently numbed so you stay comfortable throughout the procedure. We remove the infected tissue, carefully shape and clean the canals, and then seal them to prevent reinfection.
Once the root canal is complete, the tooth is usually restored with a crown to strengthen it and return it to full function.
After your appointment
You may feel mild tenderness for a day or two, which is normal and settles quickly. Most patients return to normal activities straight after treatment. We’ll give you simple instructions to care for the tooth and will arrange a follow-up appointment if a crown is needed.
Looking after your restored tooth
With proper care and regular check-ups, a tooth treated with a root canal can last for many years. If you’re unsure whether your tooth needs a root canal or another treatment, we’re here to assess your options and explain everything clearly.
